History of the 1st Armored Division
The 1st Armored Division, nicknamed "Old Ironsides," is the oldest and most recognizable armor division in the United States Army. It was the first tank unit to see combat in World War II. Old Ironsides is still serving America as part of III Corps, stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. This is a short history of the 1st Armored Division.
